Department profile
The Bachelor’s study in the study programme ECOTECHNICS is focused on obtaining technical and technological knowledge in air protection, water treatment and water protection, waste minimization, storage and disposal as well as in waste recycling and its subsequent use as a secondary raw material, monitoring and legislative protection of the environment. During the study students acquire knowledge related to the methods of designing single machine and equipment parts, manufacturing technology, logging and primary wood processing and operation of machines in various industrial branches, in engineering plants and other enterprises of production and services. They can address practical technological and technical issues related to the operation of environmental, municipal and forestry technology, as well as organizational tasks of transport operation and maintenance and handling the material.
The graduates of the Bachelor’s degree in the study programme ECOTECHNICS cooperate with manufacturing engineers, users of manufacturing systems and specialists of other professions. In their work, they use basic knowledge of entrepreneurship, management and economy acquired during their study. They may be employed in the environmental departments of manufacturing plants and in departments of the state administration at various stages, in evaluating, assessing, project and advisory activity of both energy and ecological indicators, in the use of energy sources, industrial technology and productions. The graduates of the study programme in question can be employed as technical managers in automotive industry, in the plants of agricultural and forestry technology and technology for bioenergetics.
Master´s degree in the study programme ECOTECHNICS is aimed at acquiring the knowledge, competences and skills. Graduates are able to propose, project, manage, control, guide, direct, run a business efficiently. Graduates acquire knowledge based on the relations “Man – Equipment – Soil – Biomass – Environment” in designing bio-energy systems, as well as in designing forestry production systems. Graduates can operate agricultural, forestry, bio-energy and bio-industrial production systems effectively.
Graduates of the Master´s degree study programme of ECOTECHNICS can be hired for the position of production manager, who is prepared to manage production, projection of the manufacturing lines and ensure their safe and reliable operations. Graduates can be offered jobs not only in agriculture and in forestry, but also in bioenergetics, food production, and transport, in community investment, towns and municipalities. They can be hired as employees in development industry, in testing and certifying the machinery, in services providing repair and maintenance, as teachers of specialised subjects at secondary schools, but also in the position of managers oriented towards technology management in other industrial sectors and technical infrastructure of local authorities.
History of the Department
In 2014, organizational changes happened at the Faculty of Environmental and Manufacturing Technology. The newly established Department of Environmental and Forestry Machinery formed by the merger of the Department of Environmental Technology and the Department of Forest and Mobile Technology.
History of Department of Environmental Technology
The history of the Department begins with the origin of the Department of Environmental Equipment and Manufacturing Systems which was established together with the Faculty of Environmental and Manufacturing Technology in September 1996. Following gradual adapting to new trends in industrial and manufacturing branches since 1st May 2003 the Department has been divided into two independent departments: the Department of Industrial Engineering and Department of Environmental Technology enabling their better specialization.
History of the Department of Forest and Mobile Technology
Department of Forest and Mobile Technology was established on 1st September 1996 based on the section of mechanization of the Department of Forest Exploitation and Mechanization at the Faculty of Forestry at the Technical University in Zvolen. New “Department of Forest and Mobile Technology” at the Faculty of Environmental and Manufacturing Technology was established after leaving the Department of Forest Exploitation and Mechanization at the Faculty of Forestry. It continued in the work of previous department “Construction of Forest and Wood Processing Machines”. In the field of science the Department focuses on theory, experimental modelling, construction, testing and running forest and mobile machines considering their function, versatility, operating properties, effectiveness, durability in terms of ergonomics and ecology.
